November 2012 |
|
 |
| |
The CAA conformance inspection of 21m
was done on 20 November 2012. The SACAA
also witnessed the structural testing of
the 21m tip on 22 November 2012. All
tests were successfully completed. The
photo below shows the impressive loading
the 21m tip can sustain. |

|
| |
SACAA has accepted JS’s proposal for the
designation of the 18/21m variant. All
JS1 sailplanes from S/N 34 onwards can
be changed to type JS1-C. The 21m

SACAA will provide the acceptance letter

JS1B Jet Turbine sustainer progress
report - 24 November 2012 |
|
 |
| |
The first away from base production
installations were completed on JS1’s in
Australia.
Initially start-up issues where
experienced during the first test
flights. After changes to the settings
where made 5 out of 5 start-up
reliability was achieved. Owner, Dave
Shorter, was confident to start the
engine on down wind, achieving full
power and going around for a simulated
out landing.
A lot of interest were shown by the
Australian Pilots, especially after Brad
Edwards made some low level high speed
noise over Lake Keep it! |
