Six of the seven competition days were won by a JS1 with the top three places overall being taken by the 21 metre JS1-C. Congratulations to our happy JS1 pilots:

1st 6163 Andy Davis JS-1C
2nd 5878 Russell Cheetham JS-1C
3rd 5184 Iain Evans JS-1C

Winning pilot Andy Davis wrote: I flew most days at 710 kg giving a wing loading of 58 kg/sq m. I was impressed by the climbing ability of the JS1-C at this wing loading and the handling and feedback from the 21 metre wing was quite outstanding.

Conditions throughout the competition were generally good to very good with variable amounts of spread out and occasional tricky bits and gear changes to focus the mind. The performance in the run was quite simply awesome and cruising at 100 knots most of the time the JS1 quickly pulled away from all the other gliders.

Winning speeds were twice in excess of 120 km/h which is outstanding for the UK. I was not aware of any disadvantage even in weakest of climbs and longest of glides. I love my new JS1!
